This tour to the Southern part of Sri Lanka begins at 7 am from your pickup from the hotel. The first place you will visit is the Turtle Hatchery established in 1986 to protect Marine turtles from extinction. Here you can see and even hold the new born turtles in your hands. The turtles are kept in the large tanks before they are released into the sea. Then you can follow to the the National Museum of Masks Ambalangoda. The tradition of making masks and crafts have been passed down from one generation to another. All masks are hand carved.
But it is not the end of your adventure. You will enjoy a fascinating safari tour on a boat along the river Madu Ganga. You will discover the wild life of mangrove forests and almond bushes: numerous monkeys, monitor lizards and even crocodiles, fruit bats hanging from the trees and variety of birdlife. Madu Ganga river flows directly into the Indian Ocean - an unforgettable adventure that it is worth to experience. Before visiting the main attraction of this tour - Galle Fort, we would stop near the mine, where you can see how the moonstones are actually mined. Galle Fort is the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
